Central Board of Secondary Education –CBSE has recently issued the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Notification 2017. JEE Main is the entrance test for aspirants seeking admission in B.Tech / BE, B.Arch/ B.Planning courses in reputed institutions like IITs, NITs, CIFTs, IIITs and other reputed institutions. JEE Main Examination will be held for Paper 1 and Paper2. Paper 1 is for admission of B.E/ B.Tech course and paper 2 is for admission of B.Arch / B.Planning courses. Candidates have the option to chose their interested branch and apply for either Paper 1 or Paper 2. Initially applicants must have the educational qualification of Intermediate or Plus 2 with atleast 65% of marks. Also candidates with Diploma pass are eligible to apply for JEE Main Examination. As per the notification it was specific that candidates age limit must be in between 01 October, 1992 for general candidates and 01, October 1987 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Hence aspirants holding these specific qualities are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2017. The JEE Main Online Applications Forms will be accessible on JEE Main Official Website, Jeemain.nic.in from 1st December 2016 to 2nd January 2017. Part A:

  • Objects, Texture related to Architecture and build environment
  • Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
  • Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, Materials.
  • Different sides of three dimensional objects.
  • Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical and Verbal).

Part B:

  • Design and drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil.
  • Three dimensional – perception: Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, building forms and elements, colour texture, harmony and contrast.
  • Creating two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms. Transformation of forms both 2 D and 3 D union, subtraction, rotation, development of surfaces and volumes, Generation of Plan, elevations and 3 D views of objects.
  • Landscape (river fronts, jungles. gardens, trees, plants etc.) and rural life, sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urban space (public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, recreational spaces etc).

JEE Main Paper I – Complete Details

Courses  It is held for engineering courses (B.Tech/BE).
Number of Questions  It is consisted of 90 MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions).
Subjects  The paper will be asked from subjects as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Language  Hindi, English (candidates can select while filling the application form)
Mode  It will be commenced via both; online & offline.
Duration  3 hours. (4 hours for the candidates having 40% or more disability)
Marking Scheme  4 marks for each correct response.
Negative Marking  1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response or multi-responses.

JEE Main Paper II- Complete Details

Courses  It is held for Architecture course. (B.Arch).
Number of Questions  It is consisted of 82 questions (MCQs) out of which 30 questions from mathematics, 50 questions from aptitude test and 2 questions (descriptive) of drawing test.
Subjects  The paper will be asked from subjects as Mathematics, Aptitude, Drawing.
Language  Hindi, English (candidates can select while filling the application form)
Mode  It will be commenced via offline mode.
Duration  3 hours. (4 hours for the candidates having 40% or more disability)
Marking Scheme  4 marks for each correct response (2 questions of drawing will carry 70 marks).
Negative Marking  1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect or multi-responses.
